Taiwan Alumni E-News from MOE. 2020 February

The Ministry of Education (MoE) held three seminars in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung from November 27th to December 3rd, aiming to assist foreign students during the search for employment after their graduation and to retain international talents in Taiwan. The seminars attracted about 200 students from 50 different universities.

Starting from 1. January 2020, when oversea Chinese and foreign students apply for a work permit via the “Foreign Professional Work Permit Letter Application” website and agree to receive the documents electronically, the electronic work permit letter will be issued via e-mail from the Ministry of Labor. After receiving the documents, the applicant can immediately print out the documents online, which is very fast and convenient. Applicants can also view information regarding their work permits through mobile devices in real-time, allowing them to use their vacation time for working. 

 

First Section of MRT Circular Line gets Approval to Begin. 

Taipei, Jan. 16 (CNA) The transportation ministry on Thursday gave approval for the first section of the Circular Line in Taipei's mass rapid transit system to begin operations, pending a joint decision on the exact date by the Taipei and New Taipei City governments.

Seeing Taiwan from Fried Chicken Fillets – Adventure of an Indonesian Foreign Student in Taiwan

Lina and Liu Yi-Hong were both oversea Chinese students who come from Indonesia. Their families are oversea Chinese who immigrated to Indonesia for generations. Speaking of the previous impression of Taiwan, the two said in unison: “Fried chicken fillet and bubble milk tea!” 

French Filmmaker Granted Citizenship for Work Showcasing Taiwan

French filmmaker Jean-Robert Thomann has officially been granted ROC (Taiwan) citizenship in recognition of his outstanding contributions to documenting the country.

To assist domestic enterprises with recruiting overseas talents, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has organized three One-on-One Employment Meetings across Taiwan starting April 2020. Overseas Chinese and foreign students, as well as any interested foreigners in Taiwan, are all invited to participate in the meetings and have one-on-one interviews with Taiwanese companies.........
In response to the Ministry of Education's New Southbound Talent Development Program, the Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam plans to hold the “2020 Job Fair of Taiwanese Corporate in Vietnam” on May 16, 2020 (Saturday) at the Taipei Station’s Multifunctional Performance Area to set up a platform for talent matching between Taiwanese corporate in Vietnam, Vietnamese students in Taiwan.....
